Bed bugs are sneaky and can hitch a ride on your clothing if you’re exposed to an infestation. Staying at a vacation rental home, hotel room, or condo can expose you to hidden bed bugs. Bed bugs live in small crevices making them difficult to detect. Even worse, they tend to come out at night only. During the day they are hiding under mattresses, in box springs, behind baseboards, behind wall pictures, and furniture near beds. So if your luggage or clothing is near a bed infested with bed bugs, it’s likely you’ll carry them home. Usually, the only evidence you have is itching welts all over your back and body.
